The New Wave of Learning Self-Directed and Inquiry-Based Education in Bengaluru

Nov 10, 2025

What if education wasn’t about giving answers but inspiring questions?
In the evolving educational landscape of Bengaluru, a quiet revolution is underway -self-directed and inquiry-based learning. We at Wizkids Gurukul are crafting an ecosystem where children learn by exploring, questioning, and discovering.

Inquiry-Based Learning Rooted in Curiosity

Unlike rote learning, inquiry-based learning starts with a question: Why? How? What if?
At Wizkids, our students aged 11yrs plus, participate in hands-on experiments, storytelling sessions, and research circles, turning each concept into a journey.
For example, a discussion on “Water” becomes a multi-disciplinary project exploring its chemistry, environmental role, and cultural symbolism in Indian heritage.

Self-Directed Learning Freedom with Responsibility

Children are guided by AI-powered adaptive platforms, where learning pace and content adjust to their individual needs. This mirrors the Gurukul tradition of  mentor guides, but the student’s Swa-adhyayan (self-study) defines their growth.
Through the Krishna Bot, children can “Ask Anything,” promoting autonomous exploration, an essential 21st-century skill.

Blending Research and Reflection: The Vimarshana Evaluation

In inquiry-driven learning, assessment must measure thinking, not recall.
This is where Vimarshana developed at Purna Chetana Public School, transforms evaluation. Instead of marks, children are observed in real-world application of concepts. For example:

  • A history lesson may end with students creating a timeline or short documentary.

  • A math concept may be applied through budgeting for a community event.

Mentors note not just accuracy but creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. The process concludes with circle time, where children reflect on what they learned deepening metacognition.

Why It Works

Inquiry-based learning ignites:

  • Intrinsic Motivation: Children learn because they’re curious.

  • Critical Thinking: Real problems demand multi-disciplinary thinking.

  • Emotional Balance: Students express rather than suppress confusion or curiosity.

With research-driven pedagogy and activity-based evaluation, our children at Wizkids Gurukul are emerging as a leader in holistic, future-ready education.

When curiosity becomes the curriculum, education becomes lifelong.
Wizkids Gurukul proves that self-directed learning is not a privilege - it’s a possibility for every child, when guided with compassion and purpose.
